Piano Shennanigans

I was working away today and realized it had been a little quiet. I looked up and over into the living room to see what Oliver was up to. He was standing at the piano, carefully pressing the keys, his arms stretched as high as he could get them just so he could reach. We have a digital piano, so of course it wasn't making any sound. I turned it on for him for a minute, I figured he deserved a reward for his ingenuity. Plus, it bought me some time so I could grab the camera and snap a few pictures.

New Chucks

We decided that it was about time to get Oliver some shoes, considering we are the bad parents who allow him to go out all the time in just socks, like a ragamuffin. Anyone who knows me knows that I live in my Chucks. {Here's a link to Wikipedia's article on Chuck Taylors for anyone who is not familiar with the slang.} When I saw these adorable little Oliver-sized Chucks, I couldn't resist. Isn't he just the cutest??

As a side note, you'll notice that these pictures feature an Xbox 360 controller. This is because he was "playing Xbox" {ie. convinced that he was actually playing what was up on the big screen, in reality it was daddy playing} and I couldn't get the controller away from him for long enough to take the pictures. He's getting really stubborn in his old age. ;)

Valentine's Day

Rian and I are not too keen on V-day. I mean, why do we need a specific day to be sweet to each other? We are sweet to each other all the time! The past few years we've dubbed it Verygoodfriendentine's Day, and had people over for a home cooked meal and some good old-fashioned hanging out. This year we had our friends Brent and Tina over, with their little girl Kirra. Kirra is about a month younger than Oliver. They are going to grow up to be great friends, I'm sure of it!

Oliver was very inquisitive about Kirra, and Kirra was very excited about Oliver. She was shaking from excitement and tugging on his clothes and touching his face. He was staring at her inquisitively with his head cocked to one side. Then all at once he smiled and leaned over and gave her a big kiss. It was SO CUTE. Made my heart melt.

Here are some pictures of them playing together.

Kirra + Oliver = BFFs!

A Piano Man

Oliver LOVES playing on our piano. I got some cute pictures of him doing it. I wonder how young is too young for me to start teaching him lesson...hmm... ;)

Gettin' Into Trouble - Working Overtime!

Now that Oliver is crawling like a speed demon and pulling himself up to stand, he's getting into all sorts of trouble. I can hardly keep up. He certainly wears me out.

Christmas Festivities

Here are some candids from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Merry Christmas, little love!

Ice Skating - Christmas Eve

My family has a tradition of going ice skating in downtown Calgary every year on Christmas Eve. It's gorgeous and picturesque. I was so happy to have Oliver with us this year so he could share in this family tradition. Unfortunately, he didn't have the most pleasant time because of the bitter cold, but it was memorable none-the-less.

I'm done people, let's go home!
